The 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Doubled Monticello, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 collection. The U.S. Mint struck 120.6 million Philadelphia nickels dated 1939 across all varieties; how many show the Doubled Monticello is not recorded. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $56 to $1.9K depending on grade and condition.
