The 1939 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-014 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Doubled Monticello, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Series die scratches below LI of LIBERTY; die scratch below star. Reverse: Die scratch through TS of CENTS; die scratch above M of MONTICELLO; die bump to lower right of first O of MONTICELLO. Type I steps.
