The 1939 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-016 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Doubled Monticello, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: None noted. Reverse: Die gouges through LURIBUS, especially in upper portion of R; die gouge through lower portion of T of UNITED; slanted die scratch inside D of UNITED; die gouge through lower portion of first S of STATES; die scratch to lower left of O of OF.
