A nickel from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Reverse of 1940 belongs to the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The U.S. Mint reported 120.6 million nickels from Philadelphia for 1939 in all; how many have the Reverse of 1940 is not recorded. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate.
