The 1939 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Doubled Monticello, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: Diagonal die scratch to right of upper portion of G of GOD; die scratch from back of Jefferson's nostril curving SW to front of profile above his upper lip. Reverse: None noted.
