1939 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

The 1939 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1939 Jefferson Nickel - Doubled Monticello, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: Obverse: None noted. Reverse: Die scratch from lower left of M of MONTICELLO southwest to F of FIVE; die scratch from the center of T of CENTS east through S of CENTS.  Type II steps.
