Description

The 1921 (D) Morgan Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Morgan Dollars 1878-1921 series. The U.S. Mint produced 20.3 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 23% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. Revived for one year before being replaced by the Peace Dollar. Struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco with very high mintages. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $87 to $661 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7299.
