Description

The 1921 (D) Morgan Dollar - Engraved First 100 Coined is a special strike dollar struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Morgan Dollars 1878-1921 series. The U.S. Mint produced 20.3 million examples, making this ranked 4th of 7 mint variants by mintage, with 19% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. Revived for one year before being replaced by the Peace Dollar. Struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco with very high mintages. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $95 SP64 12-24-2022 eBay.
