1921-D VAM-1AP Filled W of We Discovered by Mike Emswiler, March 2003 (Desirability: image:star3.gif ) 1AP IV 1 · D2a (Filled W of We) (189) Reverse D2a– Die fill in W of We to make it almost completely missing. Die fill in W in We removing almost the entire letter. Much like VAM-1A2, this filled die appears to have happened on a newly installed die as two thirds of the examples have been found in PL condition. DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The exact same reverse die was first used on VAM-1AP, then on VAM-1AN, then on VAM-12A, which can show much more break in the wreath and more die cracking. Not all 1921-D VAM-1AP have a filled W.
