Former JOH-14 Discovered by Jim Hart, 2001 (Desirability:image:star1.gif) Revised April 2024. 1BG IV 1 · D2a (Scribbling Scratches, Die Break Left of Second L) (189) Obverse IV 1 - Diagonal die crack across neck with tiny die chip in middle of neck forms in later die stages. Reverse D2a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg, between eagle's left wing and body and in middle of both wings. Die crack thru bottom of E DOLLAR, widening to break on left side of second L in later die state. Eagle’s wings over polished with feathers missing in middle of eagle’s right wing. Small die chip in left wreath opposite N in UNITED. ''Die marker'' - Long single polishing line at tip of eagle's right wing and top of ST in earlier stages. Comments: # Revised to add scribbles from former VAM 1CD # The former http://www.vamworld.com/1921-D+VAM-1AC, was Eliminated, same dies as 1921-D VAM-1BG. # In this variety, a crack on Liberty’s neck has advanced to the point that a small amount of metal expanded into a break. Hard to find because of the size, it takes a eagle's eyes to locate a VAM like this! Additionally, there is a small break in the lower left of the 2nd L of DOLLAR.
