2014 (P) Kennedy Half Dollar - P-50DER-002T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Trails on the half dollar reverse 2014P-50DER-002T come from the arrowheads, from stars near AMERICA's final A, from DOLLAR's R and A, and from the stars above that pair of letters, all at 060°, east-northeast. The code is 2014P for a 2014 Philadelphia coin, 50 for the half dollar, DER for a reverse design extension in TrailDies' scheme, file 002 and T for trails. The middle-state obverse shows a small crack on top of Kennedy's ear and another crossing from the bust's base into the field; the reverse has none. Phil Hammond found the die. Like other trail dies, this one is usually explained by polishing with a rotary tool, though some attribute the lines to die-against-hub movement.

• Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a small die crack is seen on the top of Kennedy’s ear. Another die crack is seen on the base of the bust transiting into the field.
• Reverse is MDS – none observed.
