Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 2014 (P) Kennedy Half Dollar is part of the Kennedy Half Dollars Clad and Silver Proof 1971 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 2.5 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 54% of production. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. The 50th Anniversary set included the first gold Kennedy Half Dollar and a four-coin silver set with different finishes. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $19 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 11.3 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #524457.
