1999 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-055T Trail Die Reverse

Description

1999P-1DER-055T shows trails from the TE of STATES and, more faintly, from some of the letters of EPU, with some distortion in the designer's initials. They point to 060°, east-northeast, up and to the right. TrailDies reads the code as 1999P (date and Philadelphia mint), 1 (cent), DER (a design extension on the reverse), 055 (file) and T (trails). The middle-die-state reverse has die gouges at the center of the O in ONE and another under the right base tip; the obverse has none. Bill Slaughter of Arkansas found the die. Rotary polishing of the die is the cause most often named, though some think the die moved against the hub.

• Reverse is MDS – die gouges in the middle of the O in ONE.  Die gouge under the right base tip.
