1999 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-057T Trail Die Reverse

Description

1999P-1DER-057T has trails running at 270°, due west, toward the left edge of the coin. In ONE they leave the bottom left of the N and E, with a line crossing over from the E's middle bar; in CENT they come off the upper left corners of ENT. TrailDies' number gives the year and mint, the cent (1), DER for a reverse design extension, the file (057) and T for trails. The late-die-state coin has no obverse markers; on the reverse, small die gouges surround the RIC of AMERICA and the T of CENT. Jimmy Ehrhart found the die. Such lines are generally put down to polishing of the die with a rotary tool; a minority attributes them to the die moving against the hub.
