1999 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-056T Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 1999P-1DER-056T, trails from the tops of the letters of STATES appear to cut notches into them, and faint trails show on some letters in EPU, all at 030°, north-northeast. TrailDies notes that the reverse is also a DDR, seen at the statue's knees. In the code, 1999P is the Philadelphia date, the 1 denotes a cent, DER the reverse-side design extension, 056 the file and T a trail die. Other markers on the middle-die-state coin are die clash remnants below Lincoln's ear, a die chip on the right cornice and a clash line in the third bay. Bob Piazza of Florida found it. Most attribute trails to the die being polished with a rotary buff, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
