Error
Description
Light trails on 2014P-50DEO-003T leave the words IN GOD and the mint mark, aimed at 120°, toward the lower right (east-southeast). The code identifies a 2014 Philadelphia Kennedy half dollar (2014P, 50), an obverse design extension in TrailDies' terms (DEO), file 003, with T for trails. TrailDies says this obverse was paired with a trail-die reverse, file 004, which the entry prints as 2104P-50DER-004T, a slip for 2014. TrailDies' coin is a late die state: a faint vertical crack crosses Kennedy's cheek, and the eagle side has a small gouge right of its left claw. Phil Hammond found the die. Trails are typically explained as the result of polishing the die with a rotary tool, though some trace them to the die moving against the hub.
