The die pair shows Stage A early die state characteristics, with a small die dot on the forehead of Monroe's portrait serving as the primary obverse attribution marker. The reverse is in early die state with no specific markers noted. Position A and Position B designations refer to the alignment of the incused edge lettering — applied in a separate post-strike operation — relative to the obverse and reverse faces.
