1972 (S) Silver Eisenhower Dollar - S-100DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

1972S-100DEO-001T is an Eisenhower dollar obverse from San Francisco: 1972S for the date and mint, 100 for the dollar, DEO for TrailDies' design extension obverse, file 001 and T for trails. The trails are light and short, leaving GOD's D and the UST in TRUST at 210°, south-southwest, down and to the left. At the middle die state described, three cracks run through Eisenhower's head; the reverse is unmarked. TrailDies credits the find to Brain Vaile, as the entry spells the name. Most attribute trails to polishing the die face with a rotary buff, though others think die-to-hub movement is responsible.
