1943-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-010

Description

A D/D Southeast variety from the wartime Denver Mint, this VarietyVista-documented Washington Silver Quarter developed extensive die cracking and chipping at Stage C across both faces. Die markers UVC-0348 / DMR-024: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse at MDS and a die crack across lower bust line at MDS; Stage C with a die chip on the wing under U of UNITED at LDS, a die chip on the eagle's beak under the eye, a die crack through lower LIB of LIBERTY at LDS, and two die cracks in upper hair. The five simultaneous Stage C markers document extensive late-state deterioration across both Washington's portrait and the heraldic eagle reverse. Designed by John Flanagan, struck in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm, the wartime 1943-D had production diverted partially to military needs, yet generated sufficient die populations for ten documented RPM varieties.
