1911 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-001 / RPM-001

Description

Cross-referenced as FS-501, this 1911-D Lincoln wheat cent is VarietyVista's RPM-001, which Wexler numbers WRPM-001: a D/D Southwest repunched mintmark. Wexler writes the Cherrypickers number FS-01-1911D-501 (012.8). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties also gives D/D Southwest. Its obverse marker is a gently curving die scratch, NW/SE, beneath the date's 19; it records no reverse markers. Paul Funaiole submitted the coin. Wexler also lists CONECA RPM #1 and Coppercoins 1911D-1MM-001. VarietyVista, which does not name a reporter, gives the same D/D Southwest. Under marker codes UVC-1052 and DMR-002, stage A shows a strong secondary mintmark to the south with both sides early, and stage B a weak one to the south with both sides in a middle die state. Stage C, a late die state, is unconfirmed.
