1999 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-058T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Light trails show on the word OF, the ES of STATES and some letters in EPU on 1999P-1DER-058T, leaning to 340°, north-northwest. The code is TrailDies' way of saying 1999 Philadelphia, one cent, a design extension on the reverse (DER), file 058, trails (T). On the middle-state coin it describes, the obverse has a die dot above the L of LIBERTY and another below the last 9 of the date; the reverse has a gouge in the right foot of the T in CENT, a smaller one just right of that T, and two small dots beneath the slanted stroke of the N in ONE. William Glenn of Florida found the die. Trails are usually credited to the die being polished with a rotary buff; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – die dot over the L of LIBERTY. Die dot under the last 9 in the date (not shown)
• Reverse is MDS – die gouge in the right base of the T in CENT. Another smaller die gouge is seen to the right of that T. Two small die dots are under the diagonal bar of the N in ONE.
