2000 (P) Sacagawea Dollar - P(SAC)-100DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

2000P(SAC)-100DER-001T is a reverse of the 2000 Sacagawea dollar with light trails off the top of the E in the motto, off some of the stars and off the AR of DOLLAR, all running at 030°, north-northeast. In the code, 2000P stands for the year and Philadelphia, (SAC) for Sacagawea and 100 for one dollar; DER flags the reverse, 001 is the file, and T means it is a trail die. Michael Taylor found it. At stage B the obverse has a few very small gouges beneath the Y of LIBERTY, and the reverse a small gouge beside the M of AMERICA. Usually trails are blamed on rotary polishing of the die, though a minority links them to die-to-hub movement.
