Description
Produced at the Denver Mint, the 1958 (D) Jefferson Nickel is part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. The Denver Mint struck 168,249,120 nickels dated 1958. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Both mints active with moderate mintages. The series continued without major changes. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $0.05 to $15 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4064.
