1958 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1958-D WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1958-D Jefferson nickel, cataloged by the Wexler team. The secondary D is tilted (rotated) relative to the primary (D/D Tilted (Rotated)). On the obverse, a small die gouge sits under the R in TRUST. On the reverse, in STATES, a gouge sits between the A and T at their bottoms, and vertical scratches lie left of the first T in STATES. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments caution that the mechanical doubling seen inside the mint mark and along its right side is not RPM doubling and should not be confused with it.
