1956 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-008

Description

1956-D WRPM-008 is a repunched mint mark on the 1956-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D/D South + Tilted (Rotated). Heavy, slightly curved gouges lie over the head, and a large gouge sits behind it. N/S scratches lie ahead of the face and between LIBERTY's I and B, NW/SE scratches cross IN GOD WE TRUST, and crisscrossing scratches sit over the date. The reverse shows light finger feeder scrapes through TA in STATES. A curved NW/SE scratch links the I in PLURIBUS with the D mint mark, and strong scratches run SW from the mint mark to NE in ONE. N/S scratches lie between AMERICA and the oak branch, and short N/S scratches sit right of the flame. Scott Holliday submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
