1956 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-002

Description

1956-D WRPM-002 is a repunched mint mark on the 1956-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). On the obverse, a strong NW/SE scratch lies under the date's 1. NW/SE scratches cross the E in WE and GO in GOD, and below GOD an E/W scratch crosses them. From the D in GOD a scratch extends NE through the neck, and a long NW/SE scratch lies behind the head. Gouges sit below and right of the N in IN and low between the B and E in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a small die chip sits on the upper olive leaves, and a N/S scratch lies between those leaves and the A in STATES. N/S scratches cross the olive branch, a strong NW/SE scratch crosses PLURIBUS's first U, and a strong N/S scratch sits between the two right oak leaf clusters. Strong scratches join C and A in AMERICA, scratches lie between the dot and the E in DIME, and a gouge sits left of the upper olive leaves. Eric Axtell submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #1.
