1956 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-003

Description

1956-D WRPM-003 is a repunched mint mark on the 1956-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Tilted (Rotated). The obverse has many crisscrossing scratches in the left fields. Two scratches join the right side of LIBERTY's Y to the rim over the T's right side. Behind the head is a short, strong N/S scratch, a strong NW/SE scratch runs from the nose to the upper lip, and NW/SE scratches cross the date's 5. Gouges sit in the E's upper opening in LIBERTY and left of the top of the date's 1, another touches the bottom of the 1, and a weak gouge lies inside the 9's upper opening. The reverse has many thin crisscrossing scratches in the fields and weak die clash remnants through the branches. Many strong curving, intersecting scratches lie over the upper oak leaves and under AMERICA. A curving scratch crosses the U in UNITED, a N/S scratch sits under PLURIBUS's last U, two gouges lie left of the first T in STATES, and a gouge sits under the N in UNITED.
