1950-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-006

Description

Sixth repunched mintmark from VarietyVista for the 1950 Denver Washington Quarter, RPM-006 displays a D/D Northeast displacement — the second punch landing above and to the right of the initial impression. Documented under UVC-0732 and DMR-012, die stages progress through very late die state, with a die crack developing across the bust and turning southwest toward the lower 1 of the date. This crack path — traversing from the central bust to the date at the opposite edge — traces a structural failure spanning much of the obverse, indicating extensive service before retirement. The 1950-D was struck in 90% silver at Denver, where each die received its mintmark through hand-punching. The northeast displacement represents a less common directional RPM orientation, where the die setter shifted the punch both upward and rightward. As the die progressed through very late die state, the prominent crack became an increasingly visible supplementary diagnostic alongside the primary repunching.
