Description
1950-D WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1950-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extremely strong extra thickness appears on the eagle's head, the wreath, QUARTER DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. On the obverse, a scratch heads ESE off the I in LIBERTY at its bottom, a crack crosses the upper forehead heading east and runs into the hair, and another crack crosses the bust's base. On the reverse, a diagonal scratch lies inside the upper D of DOLLAR, a crack descends the eagle's right wing, and the upper part of the left wing has a crack. Kevin Flynn submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-R-VI, and Cherrypickers as FS-25-1950D-802. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
