1948 (S) Roosevelt Dime - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010

Description

1948-S WRPM-010 is a repunched mint mark on the 1948-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as S/S South. On the obverse, N/S scratches mark the bridge of the nose, and E/W scratches lie above and below LI of LIBERTY. A scratch runs nearly north from the chin's top, short scratches head south from under the chin, and N/S scratches sit in the field behind the neck. On the reverse, N/S scratches lie between the upper parts of D and I, and of I and M, in DIME. A scratch runs SE from the upper right of the E in DIME, another runs south from the lower right of the torch flame, and a die chip sits on the olive stem over the R of PLURIBUS. Jeff Longeuay submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
