1941 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-007

Description

1941-D WRPM-007 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D West, with the secondary D west of the primary. The obverse is also a doubled die, filed by Wexler as 1941-D 1¢ WDDO-003. Stage A shows NNE scratches on and leading off the vest, NNW scratches from the head below GOD, and N/S scratches behind the neck. On Stage B the scratches are weaker, a light N/S crack appears at the top of the hair, and a light crack heads SW from the lapel's left center. By Stage C most scratches are abraded away and the hair crack reaches into the field. The reverse is a doubled die as well, filed as 1941-D 1¢ WDDR-002, with Class VI doubling clearest on EPU (E PLURIBUS UNUM), the dots, and the tips of both wheat ears. Its markers persist through Stages B and C. Albert B. Raddi submitted Stage A, Lloyd Hanson Stage B, and John Bordner Stage C. CONECA lists it as RPM #7; the Coppercoins number is 1941D-1MM-007. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties. CONECA lists it on its Top 100 RPM list.
