Description
Obverse Stage A: Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: The obverse of this variety is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1941-D 1¢ WDDO-003. NNE die scratches on the vest and from the vest. Die scratches NNW from the head below GOD. N/S die scratches behind the neck. Obverse Stage B: Die scratches are weaker. Light N/S die crack at the top of the hair. Light die crack SW from left center of the lapel. Obverse Stage C: Most die scratches abraded away. Die crack at the hair extends into the field. Reverse Stage A: The reverse of this variety is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1941-D 1¢ WDDR-002. Class VI doubling shows best on EPU, the dots, and both wheat ear tips. Reverse Stage B: Die markers still present. Reverse Stage C: Die markers still present.
