1941 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

1941-D WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. TRUST shows a very close counterclockwise spread. The obverse also carries a repunched mint mark, designated WRPM-007. Its markers are a spiked-head crack between the W and E of WE, and a crack that crosses the bust's base and passes through the V and D of V.D.B. on its way to the rim. On the reverse, also a doubled die (designated WDDR-002), Wexler notes no markers. Doug Yost submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as RPM #7 but does not list the doubled die. Coppercoins numbers it 1941D-1DO-001, and also 1941D-1MM-007.
