RCD-1c-1941D-01R Retained Cud

Description

A combination variety of unusual interest, RCD-1c-1941D-01R documents a retained cud on the reverse of a 1941-D Lincoln Wheat Cent struck from a die that also produced Doubled Die Obverse DDO-003 in its late die state. The cross-reference to DDO-003 LDS means collectors can find this retained cud on the same coins that display the doubled obverse diagnostics — the obverse die had already been cataloged as a doubled die earlier in its service life, and as it aged into its late die state, the reverse die it was paired with developed the rim fracture that created this retained cud.
