1941 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002

Description

1941-D WDDO-002 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. IN GOD WE TRUST shows Class V doubling. Obverse: a series of vertical scratches through WE and diagonal scratches through TRUST; vertical scratches through the date, the mint mark, and the front of the jacket; a series of scratches rising north from the upper forehead and front hair curl; and a concentric scratch near the rim that runs from beside the date, on its right, to the back of the bust. Reverse: a series of vertical scratches through and left of ONE's N; vertical scratches through the E and N of CENT and to the right of its T; and many vertical scratches through most of the letters of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Bill Wilson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-O-V-CCW; the Coppercoins number is 1941D-1DO-005.
