1941 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-006

Description

1941-D WRPM-006 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Southeast, with the secondary D southeast of the primary. On the Stage A obverse the secondary's vertical bar shows below the primary mint mark. On Stage B the secondary is weaker and a weak crack runs over the designer's initials. On Stage C the secondary is very weak and the crack stronger, and by Stage D just a weak remnant of the secondary is left while the crack reaches the rim at both ends. No reverse markers were visible at any stage, A through D; Wexler notes each examined coin was circulated. Lloyd Hanson submitted Stages A and C, and John Bordner Stages B and D. CONECA lists it as RPM #6; the Coppercoins number is 1941D-1MM-006. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
