1941 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Repunched Mintmark WRPM-005

Description

1941-D WRPM-005 is a repunched mint mark on the 1941-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler describes it as D/D Northwest, with the secondary D northwest of the primary. On the Stage A obverse a strong secondary mint mark shows inside, left of, and above the primary, and light scratches run south from behind the lower part of the head. On Stage B those scratches are abraded away, the secondary shows only inside the primary, and a crack runs north from the rim at 7:00 through the shoulder. The Stage A reverse has very fine N/S scratches in the field. On Stage B they are abraded away; a chip sits at the middle of the left wheat ear's left side, and a crack runs northeast from the rim near 4:00 to the wheat ear. Albert B. Raddi submitted Stage A and John Bordner Stage B. CONECA lists it as RPM #5; the Coppercoins number is 1941D-1MM-005. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
