1941-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-006

Description

Exhibiting a D/D Southeast displacement, this VarietyVista-documented 1941-D Lincoln Wheat Cent provides one of the most complete four-stage mintmark attenuation records in the series. Die markers UVC-096 / DMR-007: Stage A with medium secondary mintmark at EDS and reverse at EDS; Stage B with weak secondary mintmark at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with very weak secondary mintmark at LDS, a die crack over V.D.B. (Brenner's initials), and reverse at LDS; Stage D with secondary mintmark almost completely gone at VLDS and reverse at VLDS. The systematic medium-to-weak-to-very-weak-to-nearly-gone progression across four confirmed stages makes this an ideal study example for understanding how striking pressure erases displaced mintmark impressions. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, struck at the Denver Mint in the final pre-war year.
