2011 (P) Presidential Dollar - Ulysses S. Grant, Position A - P(USG)-100DER-003T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Two opposite sets of trails mark 2011P(USG)-100DER-003T, a Grant Presidential dollar reverse. From the upper left corners of the letters in UNITED they run at 180°, due south, and from the upper left of the letters in AMERICA at 000°, due north. Read piece by piece, the number has 2011P (year, Philadelphia), (USG) (Grant), 100 (dollar), DER (reverse design extension), 003 (file) and T (trails). Tanaka Davis found the die. TrailDies' stage B coin has a small crack from the S of USG to the rim on the obverse and on the reverse another reaching the rim from the D in PRESIDENT. Trails are most often put down to rotary polishing of the die; some suggest the die moved against the hub.
