2011 (P) Presidential Dollar - Ulysses S. Grant, Position A - P(USG)-100DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2011P(USG)-100DEO-001T is a Ulysses S. Grant Presidential dollar obverse with trails under the letters of WE TRUST and from the 18th and the PRESIDE of PRESIDENT, all running at 240°, west-southwest, down and to the left. TrailDies' number joins 2011P for year and mint and (USG) for Grant to 100, the dollar; DEO, 001 and T then give the side, file and trail type. Tanaka Davis found it. The coin described is early (stage A); the obverse is clean, and the reverse has a small die dot just right of the 1 in the dollar denomination. Trails are generally traced to a rotary buff polishing the die, although some put them down to the die moving against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a small die crack is seen from the left brow into the field. Another small die crack is seen from the wave of hair under the M of JAMES entering into the field. The obverse die does have “Dimples” from the bottom of the letters in the name JAMES GARFIELD.
• Reverse is MDS – none noted.
