2010 (D) Lincoln Shield Cent - D-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2010D-1DEO-003T has trails from the bottoms of the date digits running at 160°, south-southeast, down and slightly to the right. The number breaks into 2010D for the year and Denver mint, 1 for the cent, DEO for an obverse-side design extension, 003 for the file, and T for trails. TrailDies notes nothing on the obverse of its middle-die-state coin; the reverse has a die chip at the upper left edge of the shield. The finder is Albert Neils Sr. Trails are usually blamed on rotary polishing of the die, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
