2010 (D) Lincoln Shield Cent - D-1DEO-001T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trails come off the date and the D mint mark on 2010D-1DEO-001T. The entry's heading reads 220°, southwest, but its description puts the offset at 210°, south-southwest; either way the lines point down and to the left. The code is the 2010 date with Denver's D, 1 for the cent, DEO for the obverse design extension, 001 for the file, T for trails. The middle-die-state coin has small die dots to the left of and inside the W of WE, and nothing listed on the reverse. Albert Neils found the die. Trails are usually explained as the work of a rotary buff used to polish the die, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
