2007 (D) Wyoming State Quarter - D(WY)-25DER-002T Trail Die Reverse
Error
Description
The second Wyoming file, 2007D(WY)-25DER-002T, has trails pointing north-northwest at 330°. In order, the code gives the 2007 date with Denver's D, the state tag WY, 25 for the quarter, DER (reverse design extension), file 002 and T. Lines come off THE EQUALITY STATE, the saddle horn and the back of the saddle, MIN in WYOMING, the designer's initials and IRU in PLURIBUS. The coin TrailDies describes is very late in the die's life: a small crack runs through the lower part of Washington's queue, and a heavy flow line stretches from the center of WYOMING's W out to the rim. Die polishing with a rotating wheel is the generally accepted source of trails; a minority explanation is die-to-hub movement.
Die Markers
- Stage "D", obverse is VLDS – a small die crack is seen in the lower part of Washington's queue.
- Reverse is VLDS – a strong flow line is seen from the middle of the W in WYOMING to the rim.
