2007-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-001
Error
Description
Holding the first DDR number in the Denver-mint census, DDR-001 on the 2007-D Wyoming State Quarter shows light spread at the top of the first tuft of the bucking horse's mane — the same doubling location documented on the Philadelphia-mint DDR-015, but originating from an entirely different die at a different facility. The parallel emergence of mane-tuft doubling at both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints suggests a hub-level condition that propagated into working dies at both production facilities. Cataloged as UVC-1736 with DMR-003, the variety has been documented at Stage A in early die state, with later stages unconfirmed. Light spread on the uppermost mane tuft produces a narrow shadow line beside the primary flowing curve, best detected under magnification with light angled to cast the secondary contour into relief. The Wyoming State Quarter's reverse — depicting a cowboy astride a bucking bronco above "The Equality State" — captures the rugged individualism of Wyoming's frontier heritage. As the first numbered DDR in the Denver-mint census, DDR-001 represents the foundational variety for this issue's doubled die documentation. Attributed by VarietyVista.
