2000 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - D-1DER-003WS Trail Die Reverse
Error
Description
TrailDies' third wavy-step file for the 2000 Denver cent, 2000D-1DER-003WS, has stairs that bend lightly beneath columns 5, 6, 7 and 8, more so on the left-hand side. The lines run at 180°, straight down. In the code, 1 marks the cent, DER a reverse design extension, 003 the file, and WS wavy steps, the term for trails crossing the stairs of the Memorial so that the treads look rippled. The late-die-state coin described has no obverse markers; on the reverse there is a die dot over the N of CENT and a scatter of dots around the CA of AMERICA. Trail lines are usually ascribed to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though a minority hold that the die moved against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, Obverse is LDS – none observed.
- Reverse is LDS – die dot over the N of CENT. Die dots around the CA of AMERICA.
