Error
Description
On 2000D-1DER-002WS the stair lines under columns 5 to 8 waver only lightly, and the entry's text puts the offset at 190°, just west of south (its heading reads 180°). The number decodes as year and Denver mint, the cent denomination (1), DER for reverse extension, file 002 and WS, TrailDies' label for wavy steps, where trails cut across the Memorial's stairs and bend their outline. The middle-die-state coin has a small gouge beside the final 0 of the date, damage to the L and R in PLURIBUS and a heavy scratch over its B and I, which set it apart from file 001. The usual account has a rotary buff polishing the die, and a less common one has the die moving against the hub.
