1964 (D) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

1964-D WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1964-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close counterclockwise (CCW) spread pivoting from about 1:00 appears on the lower queue, the designer's initials, the date and IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, a scratch heads SW off the L in LIBERTY from its upper left. A heavy crack crosses the bust's base, bending south on its left end to meet the top of the 1 and running into the lower queue on the right, and a separate crack leaves the lower queue and reaches the rim near 4:30, running SE. On the reverse, a gouge (dot) sits just below the tip of the eagle's beak; a crack descends the eagle's right wing, reaching the top of the Q in QUARTER; and a crack starts at the US of PLURIBUS and follows the left wing down, ending at the lower I in AMERICA.
