1964 (D) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-010

Description

1964-D WDDO-010 is a doubled die obverse on the 1964-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the center appears on the lower queue, the designer's initials, the date and IN GOD WE TRUST. On the obverse, a scratch heads WSW off the underside of the 9's loop, two scratches head SE off the I in LIBERTY from its lower right, a short scratch heads WSW off the R from its upper left, a light crack crosses the bust's base, and a crack starts at the upper back of the forehead and runs NE across the upper hair. On the reverse, short, strong gouges extend from many spots: the E and S in STATES at their center left; the E, C and second A in AMERICA at their lower left; the I in PLURIBUS at its lower left; the U and N in UNUM at their upper left; and the upper left wing. A crack also descends the eagle's right wing, and under the U of UNITED there is a die chip. Gary Wagnon submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
