1964 (D) Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

1964-D WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1964-D Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. Notches appear on the upper left of the E and Y in LIBERTY and on the lower right of the I, R, T and Y, and the upper part of the 6 in the date is doubled as well. On the obverse, the 9 and 6 of the date have a short, strong vertical gouge between their centers; a scratch heads SW off the L in LIBERTY from its lower left; a light crack crosses the bust's base and enters the lower queue; and the ribbon has a small gouge (dot) at its bottom right side. On the reverse, a crack crosses the lower right wing and ends at the Q in QUARTER, by its lower left, and the eagle's head carries a large die chip on its lower back. Joe Feld submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
