Description
A spread towards the center shows on BERTY, the date, and the lower queue. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A die scratch runs north from the upper left of the W in WE. A long die scratch runs SSW/NNE to the left of the nose ending below the L in LIBERTY. A die scratch runs SSW from the bottom of the bust between the 1 and the 9 in the date. Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs NE from the front of the eyebrow into the forehead. A die crack runs E/W through the upper hair. A die crack runs across the base of the bust into the lower queue and extending into the field to the left of the base of the bust. Reverse Stage A: A die crack runs from the lower second S in STATES to the upper I in PLURIBUS. A die crack runs down the eagle’s right wing and another runs down the left wing. Reverse Stage B: A long die scratch runs north from the tips of the arrows to the underside of the wing. A short strong die scratch runs WNW from the lower left of the C in AMERICA. Two parallel die scratches can be found between the lower F in OF and the first A in AMERICA. A die scratch runs WNW from the upper left of the D in DOLLAR. Obverse Stage A:
