1962-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

As the lead RPM for the 1962-D Roosevelt Dime, this variety was documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-388 / DMR-002 tracking a well-documented progression. Stage A EDS with light die scratches north-south on the reverse, obverse EDS; Stage B MDS with new die scratches north-south on the reverse, obverse MDS; Stage C LDS (unconfirmed). The appearance of new N/S scratches at Stage B, distinct from the lighter Stage A scratches, documents a die maintenance event between states — likely an abrasive cleaning that added fresh marks while obscuring the originals. No directional displacement is specified. Sinnock's design was struck at Denver in 90% silver and 10% copper at 2.50 grams and 17.91 mm. The 1962-D was among the final silver dimes before the Coinage Act of 1965 transitioned to copper-nickel clad. RPM-001 indicates the first or most prominent RPM for this date.
